LIGHTHOUSE PROGRAM
As we age we may find ourselves in need of some assistance in our homes to enable us to remain independent. The Lighthouse Program was developed and designed to meet this need. No one wants to go into institutional care before there is no other option. By receiving a variety of supportive assistance through the Lighthouse Program, seniors are able to remain in their communities and continue to live in the comfort of their own home.
There is a wide variety of daily tasks we can assist an eligible recipient to continue to remain at home including:
Personal Care Needs such as dressing, bathing, grooming and toileting
Mobility Needs such as walking and transferring
Nutritional Needs such as meal preparation and grocery shopping
Environmental Needs such as light housekeeping, making the bed, doing the dishes
Our registered nurse will determine the tasks to be performed to assist you in your home during her home assessment. You must be at least 60 years of age to qualify for the Lighthouse Program along with needing assistance in personal care needs.
To insure you receive the utmost care we provide extensive training for our Personal Attendants along with making them take a drug test and do a criminal background check. Your safety and confidentiality are very important to the Raleigh County Commission on Aging. This is why our potential employees go through an extensive interview process with many hours of training. We want to make sure you are treated with care and professionalism when receiving our service.
Our Lighthouse Program serves Raleigh and Fayette Counties.
Although there is a fee for the Lighthouse Program you pay according to a sliding fee scale. Participants are expected to provide a cost share of the hourly cost for the service. This is calculated using a sliding fee based on the individual’s monthly income minus medical expenses. We understand the needs our seniors have and try to keep cost at a minimum for those who qualify for the Lighthouse Program. The normal sliding fee scale payment is $1.50 per hour. If you need more information regarding the sliding fee or medical eligibility guideline please contact Rosalina Dunford-Boothe, RN, BSN at 304-255-1397 ext 110.
